The Upper Clackamas Whitewater Festival started in 1984 and has been the annual river-rat gathering in the Pacific North West ever since. The Northwest Rafters Association (NWRA), a non-profit volunteer organization, has been behind it all that time. The goal of the NWRA is to provide a Whitewater Festival designed to provide everyone in the whitewater boating community with a weekend of fun, companionship, education and competition.
This years Upper Clackamas Whitewater Festival has unprecedented, enormous support from the whitewater community in the Northwest. Next Adventure, Andy & Bax, River Connection and virtually all of the major whitewater equipment suppliers are participating in a HUGE way! Once again Next Adventure will be providing the Saturday evening campfire barbeque. Back again, and sponsored by Andy & Bax, is the hugely popular Bob Shoemaker & The Revelators. Those of you who attended last year will remember how special and magical that night was.
Looking for new gear? Look at the vendor and sponsors pages linked above. On these pages you'll find links to the web sites of the exhibiting vendors. Look over the product lines and get a feeling for what's new. Then come up to the Festival and do some one stop shopping. Maravia, Aire, Sotar, NRS, Seveylor, Riot Kayaks, OS Systems, River Connection are among the whitewater suppliers who will be showing their wares and demoing equipment. Come up and meet the people who make the gear. Hang out around the campfire with them Saturday night. Shmooze for the best deal. This is your chance!
Vitally important to the sport of whitewater is your awareness of the issues affecting our rivers. This year we have many important organizations attending the Festival to share information on the issues that impact the quality of the rivers as well as our access to them. Take advantage of this opportunity to catch up on what's happening.
Safety! Nothing else is so important in the sport of whitewater rafting and kayaking. Look at the schedule of clinics we have lined up. Each and every one of these clinics is free! They are being presented by leaders in the fields of rescue, safety and wilderness medicine. Attend these classes and we guarantee you will take something valuable away with you. Something that may save your life, or mine!
Check the schedule of events for this year. Come up and join us for the 24th Annual Upper Clackamas Whitewater Festival. It's shaping up to be the best one ever!
